Prabhat Zarda Factory (PZF) grown up from seeds to a tree. In the year 1956. The founder member Late Lalit Kr. Arya ( Popularly known as Lal Babu) started his business of manufacturing and sale of Mitha Masala, Flavoured Quiwam and Pan – Chatni from his residence at Saraiyaganj. I intially he produced Prabhat Chatni. Usha Quiwam, Keshar Bilas & Looses Lal Powder. Since Beginning he was associated by Jagganath Singh, Faujdar Choudhary, Surya Narayan Mehta and Narayan Sah. Initially Late Lal Babu himself used to carry the products ( Quiwam, Pan – Chatni & Mitha Mashala) in bags by cycle for distribution to the Pan – Shops in the local Market in Muzaffarpur. Subsequently, a wholesale shop was opened at Pan Mandi, Kalyani, Muzaffarpur.

Late Lal Babu was a farsighted leader. Due to his intelligent move and hard labour the business was growing up. In the year 1962 he shifted his business from his residence and established a factory at New Area Sikandarpur, from Muzaffarpur due to increasing demands of the products. He introduced flavoured Zafrani Patti ( Popularly known as Pila Patti ) Ratna Chap Zafrani Patti (12.5g & 50g) gradually under different Brands No.15, No. 20, No. 30, No. 60, No.64, No.100, No.200, No.150,No.300 in plane square tin containers With labels during the year 1964. Besides, different brands of Quiwam like Jyoti quiwam, Ratnawali Quiwam, Rajratan Quiwam etc. were also introduced.Buyers from different districts of Bihar shown their interest in these products and placed orders. People liked the products and the business was spread over outside Bihar.

Thereafter, initially during the year 1966/1967 orders from Varanasi (U.P) and Nagaon ( Assam) were received. In the year 1970 (03.01.1970) for marketing Ratna Zarda Supply Company was established and elder brother of Late Lal Babu, Late Avantilal was given independent charge for marking in the different states throughout the country. During a short spell of time the products became popular in the different states under active leadership of Late Avantilal, who had also visited abroad and obtained orders for export of the products.

The Proprietorship business of Late Lal Babu converted to a Partership business in the year 1972. After introducing flavoured Zafrani patti No. 64, No. 150, No. 300 and No. 500 products were occupied major share in the country and Prabhat Zarda Factory never looked behind. In the year 1975 Central Excise duty was livied on tobacco products. In the year 1979 Govt. Of Bihar also imposed Sales Tax@4% on tobacco products besides Central Excise duty already levied, while other states were not levied such Sales Tax. To face the price competition a sale depot ( consignment Agent ) was established At G.T Karnal Road, Delhi to feed the different states from Delhi. Products were produced at Muzaffarpur, Bihar and despatched to Consignment Agent at Delhi. In the year 1981 a factory was established at G.T Karnal Road, Delhi for producing Quiwam. Subsequently, due to heavy demands fo the products (Zafrani patti) a factory outside Bihar was also established.


Prabhat Zarda Factory Partnership firm was converted to Prabhat Zarda Factory ( Muzpur) Pvt. Ltd & Prabhat Zarda Factory Pvt. Ltd. In the year 1985 subsequent it was named as Prabhat Zarda Factory (Muzpur) Ltd. Prabhat Zarda Factory (India) Ltd. And finally Prabhat Zarda Factory ( India ) Pvt. Ltd which is still continuing.

The Tobacco Flake used by the factory contain minimum Nicotine (Below 3%). For producing Zafrani Patti Menthal, Spices (Clove, Cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, mace, cubeb etc.) herbs saffron and sliver foils all these ingredients used are useful for health. The products of the company are not only popular in the country but also export fo the products are done from Delhi/Noida units specifically in the Countries U.A.E, Afghanistan, United Kingdom, Yemen, United States, Yuganda, Kenya, Somalia, South Africa. Etc.

In continuing stepping up of the business a new unit at E-64, Sector-8, Noida was also established with fully automatic machineries for producing Quiwam & Zafrani Patti under different brands including export quality for marketing of the products faster due to heavy demands in the year 1987 (16.05.1987) under the active leadership of Late Vijay Kumar Arya, youngest son of Late Lal Babu.

The sad demise of founder member Lalit Kr. Arya ( Lal Babu) was taken place on 03.02.2016, but his products are still alive and not only popular in India rather it is accepted globally.
